You Know Your Child Is Smart…

  • But something isn’t clicking.
  • Maybe reading feels harder than it should.
  • Maybe schoolwork ends in tears.
  • Maybe lessons that seem simple take hours to complete.
  • Or maybe your child understands concepts when you explain them, but struggles to work independently.

You know they’re capable. You know they’re trying.

Yet progress feels slow, inconsistent, and exhausting for everyone involved.

If you’ve ever found yourself asking “Why is my child struggling when they’re clearly so intelligent?”

You’re not alone. And you’re not imagining it.

The Truth Most Parents Miss

Learning struggles don’t always look the way we expect.

Children with dyslexia, ADHD, processing challenges, working memory difficulties, and other learning differences are often bright, creative, curious, and capable.

What parents usually see instead are symptoms:

  • Reading avoidance
  • Writing frustration
  • School resistance
  • Forgetfulness
  • Emotional outbursts
  • Slow progress despite effort

The challenge? Those behaviors are often misunderstood.

Without understanding the root cause, it’s easy to choose solutions that don’t actually help.

Introducing The Homeschool Clarity Diagnostic

This free assessment helps you identify patterns commonly seen in struggling learners so you can better understand what may be happening beneath the surface. Inside you’ll explore:

Reading & Spelling Patterns

Discover whether reading challenges may be contributing to your child’s frustration and slow progress.

Memory & Processing Patterns

Identify signs that information processing or working memory may be affecting learning.

Writing & Output Patterns

Understand why some children can explain ideas verbally but struggle to get them onto paper.

School Resistance Patterns

Learn what may be driving avoidance, overwhelm, shutdowns, or emotional reactions to schoolwork.

Learning Energy Patterns

Recognize signs that your child may need a different approach rather than simply “trying harder.”

Important Note

This is not a medical diagnosis. It is a clarity tool designed to help you better understand how your child learns and identify patterns that may be contributing to their struggles.

The goal is simple: To help you move from confusion to clarity.

Because when you understand how your child learns, you can begin making decisions that actually support their success.

Meet Your Guide

For nearly three decades, I’ve been helping parents understand and teach bright children who learn differently. My homeschooling journey began in 1996 with a simple goal: to give my children the best education possible. But by the time my oldest son reached first grade, I felt completely overwhelmed. He was clearly intelligent, curious, and capable, yet he was struggling to learn to read and spell. No matter how hard we worked, traditional teaching methods weren’t helping. Instead, they were creating frustration for both of us.

When he was diagnosed with dyslexia at age 7½, everything began to make sense. What I didn’t realize at the time was that dyslexia often runs in families. That diagnosis eventually led to a diagnosis for his father as well. As our family grew, so did our understanding of learning differences. Of our eight children, seven were diagnosed with dyslexia, and several also faced challenges such as dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. Those experiences sent me on a mission to understand why bright children struggle and what actually helps them succeed.

Over the years, I became a certified Orton-Gillingham dyslexia tutor and dedicated myself to learning the research behind reading difficulties, learning differences, and effective teaching methods. What I’ve learned is that learning differences are not a reflection of intelligence. Children who struggle to read, write, spell, or process information are often incredibly bright. They simply need teaching approaches that match the way their brains learn best.

Since those early days of tears, confusion, and self-doubt, we’ve successfully homeschooled our children using individualized, multisensory, research-based methods. And today, I help other parents do the same. The Homeschool Clarity Diagnostic was created to help you take the first step toward understanding your child’s unique learning profile so you can move forward with greater confidence, clarity, and hope. Because when you understand how your child learns, everything begins to change.
