In July of 2009, Zac Sunderland succeeded in becoming the youngest person in history to sail around the world alone. Against all odds, Zac braved storms, loneliness, mechanical break downs and even suspected pirates – uncertainties that tested him to his very limits. Zac accomplished his dream at the age of 17, sailing 27,827 miles around the world aboard his 36′ Islander sailboat Intrepid. Intrepid: The Zac Sunderland Story – Part 2 follows Zac as he experiences an encounter with suspected pirates, deals with life-threatening mechanical failures, and experiences more storms and near collisions at sea. Part 2 follows Zac from Darwin, Australia across the Indian Ocean to the Cocos Keeling Islands, an emergency stop at Rodrigues Island, Mauritius, South Africa, St. Helena Island, Greneda, through the Panama Canal and chased by a hurricane into port in Puerta Vallarta then home to a hero’s welcome in Marina del Rey, California.
