Welcome!
I’m so excited to share with you the many things I’ve learned about preparing our middle school kids for success.
I’ve worked hard to create a resource that is easy for you to consume.
Below, you will find 4 teaching videos each with a printable note-taking page, and a resource PDF with links to resources mentioned in the teaching.
Take your time to go through the materials, making note of your observations and takeaways.
You will have unlimited access to the video teachings and downloads so take your time and consume the information as it fits your schedule.
If you have any questions, email me at marianne@homeschoolingwithdyslexia.com.
Session 1: Learning in Middle School: What to Expect
In this session, we are beginning with a big-picture look at learning in middle school; what kids’ brains are doing, how that is affected by dyslexia and ADHD, and an overview of what kinds of priorities we’re going to be focusing on during the middle school years.
Download and print the note-taking guide and resource link PDF here.
Watch the video and fill in the prompts in your guide.
Session 2: Teaching Needs and Methods in Middle School
In this session, we’re diving into more of the practical how-tos of actually teaching our kids with dyslexia in middle school.
You’ll find a lot of strategies here.
Download and print the note-taking guide and resource PDF here.
Watch the video and fill in the prompts in your guide.
Session 3: Overcoming Obstacles
In this session, we’re talking about Overcoming Common Obstacles to homeschooling middle school students with dyslexia.
The video is a little longer than the other sessions at just a tad over 40 minutes.
It will give you a good mindset around the types of resistance we may be encountering with our kids and how to overcome them.

Session 4: Goals, Priorities, and Looking Ahead to High School
In this session, we are wrapping up the masterclass by putting together what we’ve been learning into a loose academic plan. Remember this advice to always plan in pencil – especially with our outside the box learners!
There are a lot of new resources in this session.
[Download and Print] The Middle School Goal Setting Guide with Teaching Guides and Curriculum Recommendations. Download this and print it up to reference during the teaching video.
[Download and Print] Note-taking pages. You’ll want to print this up as well to use while you watch the teaching video.
