Dyslexic students need direct, systematic, and individual instruction in reading and spelling and traditional schools do not always provide adequate levels of service.

If you are considering homeschooling a child with dyslexia or are currently homeschooling and have recently discovered that your child (or children) are dyslexic, you have come to the right place!  This site exists to equip, educate and encourage you on your journey.  As the homeschooling mother of 8 kids (7 of whom are dyslexic) I get it.  I know how it feels to be overwhelmed and discouraged by the task before you.

Homeschooling is indeed a big responsibility, but after nearly 20 years of experience, I can tell you without a doubt that it is absolutely worth it.   Though not always easy, in many cases it is the best thing for your child.

More and more parents are considering homeschooling their dyslexic kids. Even the International Dyslexia Association agrees that homeschooling is an ideal setting for the dyslexic learner.

Many parents of struggling readers have trouble getting their kids the help they need within the public or private school setting. Unfortunately, many of the myths about dyslexia continue to permeate our educational system. Parents must get informed about what dyslexia is and how to help their children. Dyslexia is genetically based and is never outgrown but all dyslexics can learn to read. Early intervention is ideal. Teaching a dyslexic person requires the use of methods (all research-based) that work.
